The constant chipping away at our bank account

I don’t know about anyone else, but these days it feels like I’m being hit with more fee increases and clever ways for others to twist and squeeze our bank account like a wet rag.

I’m tired of monthly hits and increases for 10, 20 or 40 bucks. They add up. And it feels like I have more of them than ever.

My health insurance through work, which was very good, is changing. The plan I was on won’t be available any more and my total deductible looks like it’s going up, including drug deductibles. I haven’t seen the plan costs yet, but I sure I’ll be paying more for less.

School tuition for my daughter increased this year, including fees for technology and the cost of a laptop. Though we’re saving for her future college tuition, I doubt we’re saving enough thanks to rising costs.

I’m paying over $100 for DirecTV each month and wondering why I’m paying so much for hundreds of channels I don’t use. Sports is why. But I’m thinking of finding a new way to get football next season so I can “drop the dish.”

I’m amazed when I review the AMEX bill and see what my wife spends on groceries to feed us. You’d think we eat lobster omelets and caviar-drizzled filet mignon every day.

It’s as if every business and school is pushing the limit to see what they can charge and get away with, or they offer less to their “base” package and everything else costs more money.

The only way I can see to combat this constant chipping away at our savings is to find ways to cut out services and source cheaper methods to save a buck – a buck that gets almost no interest in the bank.

Aaaarrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh. (Sorry, I couldn’t think of any other way to wrap up this post.)
